Darwin

Sadly our first stop was a little discombobulated due to the search and rescue last night.  We were scheduled to be in port at 0830, but in reality it was closer to 1130.  Seemed to take ages to get clearance for the ship also.  The two gangways needed to be craned into place which did take a while.

We decided to not rush too much, and we thought lunch before we got off would be the best idea.  We wandered up to the buffet and had ourselves a home made 'shawarma' (yiros in a pita pocket).  It was so good, Im planning on another tomorrow.

At about 1230 we decided we should try to get off and were met by huge queues of people.  It felt both orderly and disorganised at the same time.  It wasn't really clear which line we should get in, so we joined everyone else and wandered our way off the ship.

Our plan for Darwin was pretty simple.  Uber over and back to the Casuarina shops as there were a few things we needed.  Firstly a blanket - we cant use the quilt as its too hot,  I needed some more pants.  Clearly I didn't think through my leggings plan, as already Im tired of them.  Also a couple of grocery items like timtams for our cabin steward!

Our mission was accomplished quite quickly and we were back on board about 2.30.  We put our new things back in the room and headed upstairs for a cocktail.  Tony had the dirty banana which was lush.

I fit in a quick snooze before it was time for footy.  Crows season so far has been miserable, 0 -4.  We were playing carlton who are yet undefeated.

Shockingly, we won by 2 points, right in the dying few minutes!!  What a rush.  We had dinner in our room - club sandwiches delivered at 3/4 time.  After footy we went out onto the balcony to celebrate and watch the absolutely amazing sunset.

Before we knew it we were off - farewell to Darwin and Australia actually as we now head North to Hong Kong.  4 more sea days and we will be on land again.
